Toolmaker Internship (18 months)

📝 About the role

Volkswagen Group Africa is offering an 18-month Toolmaker Internship (re-advertised) in its Production Division in Kariega. Newly qualified toolmakers support making, maintaining and improving jigs and fixtures in a high-volume car plant. Programme period: 1 October 2026 – 31 March 2028.

✅ Key duties

• Help manufacture jigs and fixtures from design specs
• Support maintenance, repair and modification of body shop tooling
• Inspect and measure components
• Read and interpret engineering drawings
• Support body shop production with fault-finding
• Help compile reports and document tooling activities
• Take part in continuous improvement initiatives

🎓 Requirements

• Grade 12 or N3 with Mathematics
• Qualified toolmaker
• No prior work experience required
• Basic understanding of tooling, machining or manufacturing
• Ability to read engineering drawings
• Computer literacy (MS Office)
• Attention to detail; able to work alone and in a team
