📝 About the role

Valterra Platinum is hiring a Shaft Timberman in Thabazimbi. The role provides engineering maintenance, repairs and construction in the shaft and station area and keeps shaft systems and records up to standard.

✅ Key duties

• Maintain the shaft and station area to standard
• Do pre-start and daily checks on equipment and safety devices
• Maintain equipment and replace sub-standard components
• Plan work orders and allocate resources by priority
• Carry out installation and construction work in shafts per diagrams and standards
• Report operational problems, including blasting of hanging boxes and declines
• Keep shaft system administration accurate
• Comply with health, safety and environmental requirements

🎓 Requirements

• Grade 12/N3/NQF 4
• Certified competent Shaft Timberman
• Onsetter Certificate
• Blasting Certificate (underground hard rock) or equivalent
• VTS classification Orange
• Valid EB/Code 8 driver's licence
• At least 5 years underground, including 1 year as Shaft Timberman
• Medical certificate of fitness for underground work
• Willing to work shifts, standby, call-outs and overtime
