📝 About the role

Fixed-term Senior Technician (Peromnes grade P10) at North-West University Potchefstroom, Faculty of Engineering, School of Chemical and Minerals Engineering. Provides technical services: repairs, maintenance, design and manufacturing of research equipment. Re-advertisement; previous applicants need not re-apply.

✅ Key duties

• Support teaching and learning facilities through fitting and turning, machining, welding and boilermaking
• Repair electronic components and maintain analytical lab equipment
• Support research for the School and the Centre of Excellence for Carbon-based Fuels
• Support externally funded and collaborative projects
• Supervise and train junior workshop staff and keep the workshop running efficiently

🎓 Requirements

• National Diploma in any discipline or equivalent NQF6, plus N3 in Mechanical Engineering and a suitable trade certificate
• Trade certificate in Fitting and Turning, Turning, or Die-Making
• Minimum 3 years' experience as a boilermaker or fitter and turner
• Added advantage: at least 1 year supervisory experience
• Competencies: wiring and soldering, machining and fitting, boilermaking and welding
