Section Rock Engineer (Klipspruit New Largo)

📝 About the role

Seriti is hiring a Section Rock Engineer (D4) at Klipspruit New Largo near Emalahleni, Mpumalanga. The engineer puts measures in place to prevent falls of ground through rock engineering designs, support systems and layouts for coal mining operations.

✅ Key duties

• Deliver rock engineering services to mining, planning, survey and geology
• Ensure compliance with best practice, the MHSA and Minerals Act
• Supervise rock engineering resources
• Analyse rock engineering data to identify risks and defects
• Conduct regular inspections and address problems proactively
• Develop quality controls and safety standards, policies and procedures
• Coach operational stakeholders on strata control
• Advise senior leadership on technical risk
• Support the Life of Mine Plan and maintain the rock engineering technology roadmap

🎓 Requirements

• BSc Degree/Diploma in Mining Engineering or related science
• Chamber of Mines Certificate in Rock Mechanics
• SANIRE membership
• 5 years' rock engineering experience in coal mining
• Experience in quality control and auditing of rock engineering systems
• In-depth knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act and related legislation
• Computer literacy (MS Office, SAP)
• Valid driver's licence and a valid Certificate of Fitness (or able to obtain)
