📝 About the role

Regional Court Control Prosecutor posts in the NPA's National Prosecutions Service at three Mpumalanga offices: CPP Emalahleni (Evander), CPP Emalahleni (KwaMhlanga) and CPP Middelburg (Elukwatini). The control prosecutor manages and conducts prosecutions in Regional and District Courts and supervises, trains and mentors prosecutors. Post 35/118 in DPSA Circular 35.

✅ Key duties

• Manage, supervise and conduct prosecutions in Regional and District Courts
• Screen dockets, make prosecutorial decisions, guide investigations and ensure trial readiness
• Conduct bail applications, trials, sentence proceedings and other complex matters
• Consult victims, witnesses, investigators and legal representatives (victim-centred approach)
• Draft and check charge sheets, plea and sentence agreements, opinions and reports
• Promote court productivity through case flow management
• Monitor backlog, remand detainee, priority, AFU and money laundering matters
• Manage and verify performance information, court returns and ECMS/ICMS data
• Identify operational challenges and implement corrective measures
• Manage, train, coach and mentor prosecutors, including performance and discipline

🎓 Requirements

• LLB (serving prosecutors seeking promotion: any appropriate legal qualification)
• At least 6 years' post-qualification legal experience
• Good management skills
• Knowledge of the Constitution, Criminal Procedure Act, Public Service Act, labour law and related legislation
• Proficiency in prosecution and guiding investigations in complex matters in Regional and District Courts
• Ability to work independently
• Willing to travel within the DPP division
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
• Valid driver's licence
