📝 About the role

Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness (Rural Health Services) is hiring a Professional Nurse Grade 1 to 2 specialising in Occupational Health & Safety at George Regional Hospital. The nurse will run the hospital's occupational medical surveillance programme and occupational health clinical service for staff. Incumbents may be expected to work across institutions in the local health 'Ecosystem'.

✅ Key duties

• Develop, manage and implement an occupational medical surveillance programme in the hospital
• Coordinate and manage an occupational health clinical service for staff
• Identify and mitigate occupational risks in the hospital
• Governance, compliance and management of occupational health services
• Training, capacity building and occupational health awareness

🎓 Requirements

• Basic R425 nursing diploma/degree (or equivalent) allowing SANC registration as a Professional Nurse
• 1-year post-basic qualification in Occupational Health Nursing (R212), or a 4-year nursing degree plus a postgraduate diploma (R635) in Occupational Health Nursing
• Registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse
• Grade 1: at least 4 years' nursing experience after SANC registration; Grade 2: at least 14 years (10 of them after the specialty qualification)
• Valid Code B/EB driver's licence
• Willingness to work overtime and flexible hours when necessary
• Knowledge of OHS laws, regulations and policies in the Western Cape
• Planning, organising, problem-solving and leadership skills
• Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
