📝 About the role
Mapulaneng Hospital (Ehlanzeni District, Bushbuckridge) has two posts for Professional Nurse Grade 1 (PN-B1): Advanced Midwifery. The nurses provide specialised care in the Advanced Midwifery Unit, supervise patient care standards and take part in quality improvement.
✅ Key duties
- Provide optimal, holistic specialised nursing care within set standards
- Provide comprehensive care in the Advanced Midwifery Unit
- Manage resources effectively and keep equipment functional
- Supervise and implement patient care standards and quality improvement programmes
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control policies
- Plan and organise own work and that of support staff
- Take part in staff development and performance management
- Report patient safety incidents and unit deficiencies
🎓 Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent plus basic R425 nursing qualification allowing SANC registration as Professional Nurse and Midwife (2026)
- 1-year post-basic qualification in Advanced Midwifery Nursing Science (R212) accredited with SANC
- Grade 1: at least 4 years' nursing experience after registration as a Professional Nurse
- Grade 2: at least 14 years' experience, of which 10 years in the speciality after the post-basic qualification
- Ability to work independently and prioritise
- Leadership, interpersonal, problem-solving, supervisory and teaching skills
