Procurement Officer

📝 About the role

Sea Harvest is hiring a permanent Procurement Officer in Saldanha, reporting to the Group Procurement Manager: SA Fishing. The officer buys goods and services for the Maintenance Department, manages suppliers and orders, and negotiates savings. The post is open to EE candidates only.

✅ Key duties

• Convert orders in line with purchasing procedures
• Investigate and resolve account and supplier queries
• Maintain good supplier relationships
• Follow up outstanding and uninvoiced orders
• Source and evaluate suppliers in line with preferential procurement / BBBEE targets
• Stay up to date on market prices and do market evaluations
• Negotiate discounts and review commodities and suppliers for savings
• Report on procedure compliance, supplier service and savings
• Draw up and submit monthly reports

🎓 Requirements

• Diploma/Degree in Purchasing Management
• At least 5 years' experience as a buyer in a related industry
• Exposure to international procurement terms and conditions
• Technical qualification is advantageous
• Strong knowledge of commercial legislation
• Supplier evaluation experience and technical understanding
• Strong negotiation, analytical, problem-solving and conflict management skills
• High proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
