📝 About the role

The Mpumalanga Department of Health's Provincial Office in Mbombela is hiring a Principal Personnel Officer: Recruitment and Selection. The role runs HR administration, especially recruitment and selection, appointments, conditions of service and benefits, and advises staff on HR matters.

✅ Key duties

• Implement and maintain HR administration practices
• Handle recruitment and selection, appointments, transfers, qualification verification and vetting
• Provide secretarial support for interviews; handle absorptions and probation
• Administer conditions of service and benefits (leave, pensions, terminations, incapacity leave, housing allowance, overtime)
• Coordinate the performance management system
• Answer HR administration enquiries and advise staff
• Prepare HR administration reports and statistics
• Support the Sub-district Manager

🎓 Requirements

• Senior Certificate / Grade 12 plus 3 years' experience in an HR unit, OR a Diploma/Degree (NQF 6/7) in HRM, Public Administration or Public Management
• At least three PERSAL courses (inherent requirement)
• Extensive PERSAL knowledge, including interpreting reports
• Knowledge of the Public Service Act and Regulations, BCEA and Employment Equity Act
• Computer literacy (MS Excel, Outlook, Word)
• Good communication, analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills
• Valid driver's licence is an added advantage
