📝 About the role
Eshowe District Hospital (KZN Department of Health) is hiring an Operational Manager Nursing (PHC) for Gateway Clinic. The manager provides advanced primary curative care, supervises and evaluates nursing services and staff, and drives the Ideal Clinic programme and PHC re-engineering.
✅ Key duties
- Provide advanced / more complex primary curative health care
- Continuously evaluate nursing care and nursing services
- Provide a safe, therapeutic environment for nursing care
- Monitor and evaluate staff performance (EPMDS)
- Manage complaints and ensure quality data management
- Ensure proper use of resources and government property
- Facilitate the Ideal Clinic programme
- Handle discipline, grievances and absenteeism
- Support PHC re-engineering by keeping outreach teams functional and participate in Operation Sukuma Sakhe
🎓 Requirements
- Diploma/Degree in nursing or equivalent
- Current SANC registration as a Professional Nurse
- At least 9 years' nursing experience after registration as a Professional Nurse in General Nursing, of which at least 5 years after the 1-year post-basic qualification in the speciality
- Post-basic qualification (at least 1 year) in Curative Skills in Primary Health Care accredited with SANC
- Knowledge of nursing statutes and legislation (Nursing Act, OHS Act, Patients' Rights Charter, Batho Pele, PSR)
- Leadership, organisational, decision-making and problem-solving abilities
- Interpersonal, conflict handling and counselling skills
- Financial and budgetary knowledge; computer skills
