Gauteng Department of Health is re-advertising an Operational Manager (Speciality: Child Nursing Science) post at Bheki Mlangeni District Hospital in Soweto. The manager oversees patient care, staffing and nursing management in the paediatric unit.
✅ Key duties
- Supervise and control quality patient care in the unit
- Ensure clinical protocols and policies are in place
- Implement and evaluate patient care programmes
- Ensure adequate staffing and manage absenteeism
- Manage nursing duties and communication with the multidisciplinary team
- Implement disciplinary measures
- Secure and allocate resources and budget
- Manage staff performance and development
- Ensure adherence to National Core Standards
🎓 Requirements
- R425 Diploma/Degree in General Nursing (or equivalent) allowing SANC registration as Professional Nurse
- Post-basic qualification in Child Nursing Science (1 year, R212)
- Qualification in Health Service Management / Nursing Administration
- At least 9 years' nursing experience, 5 of them after the Child Nursing post-basic qualification
- Proven paediatric/neonatal experience
- Basic computer skills
