Medical Officer – Emergency Medicine

Gauteng Department of Health is recruiting a Medical Officer – Emergency Medicine at Edenvale Regional Hospital. The job involves: evaluation and clinical management of patients referred to the Emergency Department. You need: MBChB + HPCSA registration as independent Medical Practitioner (post community service); Grade 1 needs no further experience.

• Evaluation and clinical management of patients referred to the Emergency Department
• Clinical training and supervision of undergraduates and junior doctors
• Relevant administration as required for medico-legal purposes

🎓 Requirements

• Basic medical degree (MBCHB) that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Independent Medical Medical Practitioner post community service
• Proof of current registration (2026/2027) is essential
• Grade 1: No experience required after registration as a Medical Practitioner with the HPCSA. Interest in acute and emergency care is advantageous
• Good interpersonal, communication and computer skill
• Independent and effective decision-making
• ATLS/ACLS/APLS/PALS certificates will be advantageous
• Diploma in Primary Emergency Care (DipPEC) and emergency ultrasound accreditation are also advantageous
• Commuted overtime is mandatory
