📝 About the role

Shoprite Group is recruiting Meat Market Managers for several Meat Market branches (e.g. Mamelodi, Moutsiya Mall, Brits, Boksburg North, Diepsloot, Carletonville, Midrand Centre, Malvern, Ridgeway, Braamfischerville). Reporting to the Regional Manager, the manager runs the whole butchery operation: profitability, food safety, stock control and the team.

✅ Key duties

• Manage day-to-day Meat Market operations
• Perform and supervise meat cutting, portioning, processing and wors production
• Keep product quality, presentation, availability and freshness
• Achieve sales, GP%, waste, shrinkage and profit targets
• Control stock ordering, receiving, storage and rotation; conduct stock counts
• Ensure food safety, hygiene, health & safety and PPE compliance
• Lead, train and manage the team, including performance and discipline
• Deliver excellent customer service and resolve complaints

• Strong meat cutting and butchery skills
• Ability to make and quality-check wors and value-added products
• Knowledge of meat specifications, yields and quality
• Strong leadership and people management
• Financial and commercial awareness; stock, waste and profit management
• Planning, organising and problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail and compliance
• Good communication and customer service; ability to work under pressure
