Hoist Technician

📝 About the role

Valterra Platinum is hiring a Hoist Technician (Thabazimbi). The technician keeps mine winders and chairlifts running safely, leads winder engineering teams during breakdowns and does statutory brake tests and audits.

✅ Key duties

• Maintain and promote technical safety standards for winders and chairlifts
• Oversee electrical and mechanical maintenance in the winder and chairlift rooms
• Carry out statutory winder examinations (C2 dynamic brake tests) and 6-monthly reports
• Advise on schematics and design for new and existing installations
• Perform standby duties to maximise uptime
• Expedite spares purchases and repairs and keep order records
• Compile level 1 audits for winders and chairlifts
• Work with PLCs, data acquisition and AutoCAD drawings
• Train engineering personnel on safe operation and fault-finding
• Assist engineers and foremen with priorities and new installations

🎓 Requirements

• Electrical trade with MV certification
• N6 an advantage
• 2 years' experience as a Hoist Technician
• 4 years' experience as a winder electrician
• Knowledge of electrical, power electronics, hydraulics and mechanics
• Code 08 driver's licence
• PLC experience (CodeSys, TwinCAT, P80i, Schneider); DC drives (Gefran)
