📝 About the role
A GIS technologist post in Development Planning at the Gauteng Department of Human Settlements in Johannesburg. You will collect and capture spatial data, design spatial databases and analyse data. Youth candidates are encouraged to apply.
✅ Key duties
- Conduct all GISc technical functions
- Collect and capture of data from various formats and sources
- Design and implement a spatial database to store the required datasets
- Data manipulation and analysis including quality assurance
- Creation and maintenance of spatial data topology and attributes, format manipulation
- Apply geo-referencing, datum and projection transformations
- Providing technical support relating to software and data usage to geographic information system (GISc) users
🎓 Requirements
- Grade 12 plus three (3) to four (4) years GIS degree or related bachelor’s degree coupled with 3 years post Technologist experience
- Compulsory registration with PLATO. Possession of a valid driver’s licence
- Strong GIS skills with two or more GIS packages (e.g
- ESRI)
- Ability to use science and Technology effectively and critically
- Knowledge of legal compliance
- Problem solving and analysis
