📝 About the role
The Western Cape Department of Agriculture is hiring a Farm Aid for Farm Services at Langgewens research farm near Moorreesburg. The job covers general farm work with crops, livestock and farm infrastructure. Applicants from local communities will receive preference.
✅ Key duties
- Crop work: irrigation, soil cultivation, cleaning and hoeing
- Livestock work: caring for sick animals, dipping, vaccinating and dosing
- Clean facilities and dispose of farm waste
- Maintain and build roads, fences, pipelines, canals, dams, troughs, animal housing and buildings
- Maintain windmills and water supply systems
🎓 Requirements
- ABET level 2 certificate or equivalent
- Knowledge of farm infrastructure construction and maintenance
- General farm work and working with farm animals and pastures
- Verbal communication, numeracy and literacy
- Driving and operating equipment
- Able to work independently and in a team
