📝 About the role
Embalenhle CHC (Gert Sibande District, near Secunda) is hiring an Environmental Health Practitioner Grade 1. The role covers waste management, water and food quality monitoring, vector control, disease surveillance and occupational hygiene at the facility.
✅ Key duties
- Manage general and health care risk waste
- SHERQ (safety, health, environment, risk and quality) management
- Collect water samples and analyse results
- Food control: sampling, inspecting food premises and training staff
- Organise pest/vector control within the facility
- Disease surveillance and outbreak investigation as part of the response team
- Monitor environmental health indicators and report to management
- Pollution control, environmental health hygiene and occupational hygiene surveillance
🎓 Requirements
- Senior Certificate / Grade 12 or equivalent
- Qualification allowing registration with the HPCSA as an Environmental Health Practitioner (2026)
- SA-qualified: no experience after HPCSA registration (after community service); foreign-qualified: 1 year relevant experience after registration
- Hospital experience and OHS knowledge are an added advantage
- Good interpersonal, written, verbal and presentation skills
- Accuracy, attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
- Willingness to travel
- Valid driver's licence
