📝 About the role
ZF Mgcawu District Emergency Medical Services is hiring an Emergency Care Officer. Basic Ambulance Assistants (Grade 1) and Ambulance Emergency Assistants (Grade 3) with no experience after registration can apply. DPSA Circular 36 of 2026, post 36/300.
✅ Key duties
- Treat patients within scope of a Basic Ambulance Assistant
- Transport patients (planned patient transport and inter-facility transfers)
- Provide emergency medical care at special events
- Care for and manage EMS resources
- Work shifts; undergo physical and medical surveillance
🎓 Requirements
- Grade 1: Basic Life Support (BLS) course allowing HPCSA registration as Basic Ambulance Assistant; HPCSA registration as BAA
- Grade 3: Intermediate Life Support (ILS) course and HPCSA registration as Ambulance Emergency Assistant
- Experience: none after registration
