📝 About the role
District Court Control Prosecutor post in the NPA's National Prosecutions Service at CPP: Middelburg (Ermelo). The control prosecutor manages and trains prosecutors and conducts prosecutions, maintenance matters and inquests. Post 35/122 in DPSA Circular 35.
✅ Key duties
- Manage, guide and train prosecutors
- Study case dockets, decide on and conduct criminal proceedings
- Handle maintenance matters and inquests in Regional and District Courts
- Prepare cases and draft charge sheets and court documents
- Present and help prosecutors present the State's case in court
- Assist the Senior Public Prosecutor with staff performance assessment
- Perform general administrative duties
- Promote partner integration and community involvement in the criminal justice system
🎓 Requirements
- LLB (serving prosecutors seeking promotion: any appropriate legal qualification)
- At least 4 years' post-qualification legal experience
- Ability to act independently or with minimum supervision
- Proficiency in prosecution and guiding investigations in District Court
- Good interpersonal, analytical, presentation and project management skills
- Valid driver's licence
