Dispensary Support (learner pharmacist assistant) – Savannah Mall

📝 About the role

Dis-Chem's Savannah Mall store in Polokwane is hiring a Dispensary Support learner on a fixed-term contract. Learners work in the dispensary while completing the learner basic pharmacist assistant course, until registered with the SAPC as learner basic assistants.

✅ Key duties

• Sell Schedule 1 medicines under a pharmacist's direct supervision
• Assist with compounding and preparing non-sterile medicines per SOPs
• Learn to interpret scripts accurately and legally
• Pick, pack, label and check medication; all checked and signed by a pharmacist
• Help control dispensary stock (Schedule 1–5), shelves and expiry dates
• Follow up with patients and assist with call centre scripts and calls
• Assist with medical scheme authorisations for chronic, HIV/AIDS and oncology medicine
• Report low/out-of-stock and receive dispensary stock per SOP

🎓 Requirements

• Grade 12 with Pure Mathematics 50%, Life and/or Physical Science, and at least a 50% average
• Pass a proficiency test to register with the SAPC as a learner basic pharmacist assistant
• South African citizen
• Clear criminal and credit record (MIE check)
• English plus a second language
• Computer and numerical skills; good communication and customer service
• Retail/FMCG or Dis-Chem front-shop experience an advantage
