Community Relations Officer

📝 About the role

Valterra Platinum (formerly Anglo American Platinum) is hiring a Community Relations Officer (Band 7) at Mogalakwena Mine, Mokopane. The officer is the day-to-day link with nearby villages, managing grievances, commitments and stakeholder engagement.

✅ Key duties

• Interface daily with predefined villages on community relations
• Record, report and give feedback on complaints, grievances and incidents
• Maintain the commitments register and monitor and report on fulfilment
• Give input into the local area profile (SEAT) and stakeholder engagement plan
• Implement the annual stakeholder engagement plan and train internal stakeholders
• Hold weekly meetings with traditional leadership as required
• Coordinate, attend and report on community forums
• Identify potential conflicts and advise on cultural diversity issues

🎓 Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Economics, Community Development, Regional Planning, Negotiation/Conflict Resolution or related
• Postgraduate qualification in a related field advantageous
• Fluent in English and Sepedi
• At least 3 years' post-qualification experience in mining or a non-profit
• Trained in community engagement approaches; MS Office
• Valid code 08 driver's licence and own transport
