Community Development Worker (LG 35/2026) – DPSA Circ 35

📝 About the role

The Western Cape Department of Local Government is hiring a Community Development Worker for Region B (Mossel Bay, D'Almeida). The worker helps communities access government services, identifies community needs and reports on progress. Grade 12 is the minimum qualification.

✅ Key duties

• Inform and assist communities to access services provided by government
• Determine community needs and communicate them to the relevant structures
• Promote networks and support local community workers to improve service delivery
• Compile reports on progress, issues, actions taken and outcomes
• Keep up to date on government services and how to access them

🎓 Requirements

• Grade 12 certificate or equivalent (NQF level 4)
• Knowledge of public service policies, legislation and procedures
• Understanding of communities in the Western Cape
• Facilitation skills for public participation
• Project organisation, interpersonal and report-writing skills
• Computer literacy (MS Office)
• Good written and verbal communication; able to meet deadlines
