Child and Youth Care Worker (x2 posts)

📝 About the role

Two child and youth care worker posts, one at Polokwane Welfare Complex and one at Thohoyandou Child & Youth Care Centre. You will receive and orientate children, care for them and make sure they get medical care.

✅ Key duties

• Receive children and youth to the care facility after admission
• Provide orientation for the child to the center
• Provide care and development of children and youth where their needs are protected
• Ensure that children/youth receive medical services
• Facilitate independent living and recreational programmes
• Organize family visits and contacts
• Escort children to external services

🎓 Requirements

• An appropriate recognized NQF level 4 (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification as recognised by SAQA and Basic qualification in Child Care
• Current registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions [SACSSP] as auxiliary child and youth care worker
• Knowledge And Skills: Knowledge and understanding of the legislative framework (Children’s Act, Child Care Act, Child Justice Act) governing the Secure Care Centers
• Good communication skills, Good interpersonal relationships, Ability to handle pressure
• Honesty and confidentiality, customer care skills
