📝 About the role

Shoprite Group is hiring a Business Development Manager in Durban to find and secure profitable new business outlets. The role researches properties, builds business cases, negotiates leases and mentors team members, reporting to the Divisional Business Development Manager.

✅ Key duties

• Network and uncover viable business development opportunities
• Investigate old properties, open land and shops needing refurbishment
• Liaise with property owners, developers and agents for leads
• Research new properties, zoning, business rights and centre viability
• Evaluate competitor and market activity
• Build and present solid business cases to operational management
• Negotiate optimal lease agreements and finalise offers after Board resolution
• Collaborate on redevelopments and refurbishments
• Mentor and support new team members

🎓 Requirements

• Degree in Finance, Property Studies, Business, Legal, Town Planning or related field
• 5+ years' experience in a similar role managing a sizeable portfolio
• Experience in property development, property scouting and business expansion
• Knowledge of the retail property market, store layout and shopping centre design
• Understanding of governance, regulation and financial aspects of property
• Commercial property market experience and knowledge of contract law
• Ability to travel extensively at short notice
• Strong MS Office 365 skills
