Shoprite Checkers is recruiting a Assistant Manager Designate in Emmarentia, Cresta, Fairlands, Fourways, Gauteng. Join Shoprite as an Assistant Manager, where you will lead diverse operational portfolios including Front Admin, Back Admin, Non-Foods, Groceries, Perishables, Sales, and Fresh Food within our dynamic supermarket branches. Key requirement: Grade 12 certificate or equivalent (Essential). Applications close 2026-10-27.

✅ Key duties

• Lead by example to foster a positive and inclusive store culture rooted in trust, honesty, integrity, and respect
• Provide effective leadership, coaching, and development to build and maintain a high-performing team
• Ensure a pleasant and friendly shopping environment by delivering the highest standard of customer service
• Maintain strict compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and brand standards
• Manage and monitor store sales performance, staffing levels, and shop floor presentation aligned with the merchandising plan
• Proactively identify, investigate, and resolve stock discrepancies and shrinkage issues in collaboration with the Stock Administration team
• Implement effective loss control measures to minimise waste, theft, and delivery shortages
• Drive customer satisfaction and profitability targets through operational excellence and effective resource management

🎓 Requirements

• Grade 12 certificate or equivalent (Essential)
• Diploma in Retail Management or equivalent qualification (Desirable)
• Minimum of two years supervisory experience in a retail environment, preferably within supermarket operations
• Valid driver's licence
• Completion of a Trainee Manager programme or equivalent
• Exposure to Shoprite's Leadership Way and culture
• Proficient in computer literacy, including MS Office and supermarket-specific systems and technologies
• Strong knowledge of store operations management, promotional planning, merchandising, and stock control principles
