Admissions Clerk (x2, 4-month contract) – Life Bay View Private Hospital

📝 About the role

Life Bay View Private Hospital in Mossel Bay has two 4-month contract posts for admissions clerks. You will admit and discharge patients, get medical-aid authorisations, handle cash and co-payments and capture data accurately. Shift work includes weekends and nights.

✅ Key duties

• Carrying out admissions, discharges and receptionist duties in accordance with hospital protocols
• Liaising with medical aids to obtain authorization for pre-admission or admission
• Performing general administration duties involved in the admission of patients including coding, billing, finalizing and submission of casualty files
• Receiving, receipting and handling cash and completing drop safe register and dropping of cash in designated safes
• Daily management of the No-Auth screens to facilitate patient authorization
• Adhering to all Pre-admission, admissions and related protocols
• Accurate and complete capturing of data onto the systems.
• Working shifts including weekends, public holidays and night duty as applicable

🎓 Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Experience within a healthcare environment including people management and customer service experience
• Comprehensive knowledge of admissions procedures
• Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players would be an advantage
• Basic understanding of financial principles
• Computer proficiency (comprehensive knowledge of IMPILO or relevant software system)
• Excellent communication and Interpersonal skills a prerequisite
• Experience in dealing with customers
• Available to come to work at short notice
• Ability to work under pressure
